Delete your account
You can ask us to delete your WestHub account — including WestHub Chat — and the personal data held with it. This page explains how to ask, what gets deleted, and what we are obliged to keep. You do not need to be signed in to make the request.
1. How to request deletion
Email privacy@westhub.app from the address your account uses, with the subject Delete my account. Sending it from that address is how we confirm the request is yours; if you no longer have access to it, say so and we will verify another way before deleting anything.
Please include:
- the email address of the account
- whether you want the whole account deleted, or only particular data
We acknowledge within 2 business days and complete deletion within 30 days. We will tell you when it is done, and we will tell you if any part of the request cannot be honoured and why.
2. What is deleted
- Your profile: name, email address, phone number, photo and preferences.
- Your sign-in credentials, passkeys, app sessions and multi-factor enrolment.
- Messages and files you sent in WestHub Chat, and your membership of conversations.
- Your device registrations and push notification tokens.
Deletion removes the data from the live system. Encrypted backups roll off on their own schedule, so a copy may persist in backup for up to 35 days after deletion. Backups are not used to restore a deleted account.
3. What we keep, and why
A small amount of data outlives the account, because deleting it would either break someone else's records or put us in breach of an obligation we cannot waive.
| Data | Why it is kept | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Invoices, orders and payment records | Tax and accounting law | 7 years |
| Security and audit logs | Investigating fraud, abuse and security incidents | 1 year |
| Messages other people received from you | They are part of that person's record of their own conversation. Your name is removed from the sender, but the message itself is not deleted from their copy. | Retained with their account |
| Records subject to a legal hold | Pending or anticipated litigation, or a regulatory request | Until the hold is lifted |
Anything kept under this section is kept for that purpose only. It is not used to contact you and not used for any other reason.
4. If your account belongs to an employer
Where a WestHub account was issued to you by a company — your employer, or a West Networks customer — that company is the controller of the account and the data in it, and we act on their instructions. We will pass your request to them and tell you we have done so. They decide whether the account is deleted; we cannot delete an employer's records on an individual's request alone. This is the usual position for workplace accounts and does not affect your rights to your own personal data under the Privacy Policy.
5. Deleting an app without deleting an account
Uninstalling WestHub Chat removes the app and its local data from that device, and signs that device out. It does not delete your account or anything held on our servers — for that, use the request above.
